The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative by the Ministry of Education by Govt of India aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship among students and faculty in higher education institutions. IIC fosters a culture of innovation through various activities, including
The overall goal of the IIC is to create a conducive ecosystem that encourages students to think creatively, solve problems, and pursue entrepreneurial ventures. It engaged faculty, students in various innovation activities like ideation, problem solving, design thinking, IPR, project handling, incubation etc.
Functions of IIC :
Institution Innovation Council (IIC) encompasses various dimensions aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education institutions.
- 1. Awareness and Training : Conducting workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance understanding of innovation, entrepreneurship skills among students and faculty.
- 2. Mentorship and Support : Providing mentorship programs to guide students and faculty in their innovative projects and startup ideas, helping them navigate challenges.
- 3. Incubation and Acceleration : Establishing incubation centers that support startups with resources, networking, and funding opportunities to bring their ideas to fruition.
- 4. Collaboration with Industries : Facilitating partnerships between academia and industries to enhance research, promote internships, and create opportunities for practical exposure.
- 5. Research and Development : Encouraging research initiatives that address real-world problems, fostering a culture of innovation in various fields.
- 6. Competitions and Hackathons: Organizing innovation competitions and hackathons to stimulate creative thinking and problem-solving among students.
- 7. Networking and Community Building: Creating platforms for students, faculty, and industry leaders to connect, share ideas, and collaborate on innovative projects.
- 8. Policy Advocacy: Supporting the formulation of policies that promote innovation and entrepreneurship at the institutional and national levels.
